Just got back from Blackdown Tabletops National Park... Wow what a place, I cannot recomend a visit to this place highly enough just beautiful and the perfect place to try out my new lens which i only picked up last thursday... (Canon 50mm Prime f1.8 :) )

To say i'm happy with this little lens is an understatment... it only came off my camera for approx 2 mins to shoot a young fat healthy Kookaburra with my 70-300mm (I'll post these later) but I have a lot to learn about using this fast lenses... I kinda way overexposed a lot of the shots...

I have over 400 pics to wade through but thought i'd put these up to start with... they have only been framed and resized - no other PP performed...

I'm not sure which one I like better - the fast shutter capturing the crisp flames or the slower (not by much) bluring the flames... I await your opinions...

Cheers

Both shots are nice, but I like the second one better.

The second one is a much nicer shot - i really like the way the ambers have blurred. I personally find it very hard to get a good "flame" photo, and have tried a number of times with no results I am happy with.

Oh yes - and that lens - 'aint it great? :D

I also shoot with a 350D and was tossing up between the f1.8 or the f1.4, but with shots like the ones above... I might just save the extra dosh :)

The flames in the second are alot nicer.

Both fantastic images Bretski. The frames, however, do nothing for them.

#2 is more pleasing to my eye. Agree with manta on the frames though - simple 1px border would have done for me.

Best price I found on ebay was around $150 by the time u added postage etc good ol Hardly Normals did it for $160... I figured it was worth the extra ten bucks to get my hands on it and have proper warranty to back it up...
