Out of, oh about a thousand shots this arvo, here are a couple that weren't too bad.

Just could not get them when flying towards me which looks a lot better. Just have to keep trying I guess

Hi Mark,

great shots.
You are on the path to magnificent photos, if or when the objects cooperate.
Take your time.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of these.

Cheers,

These are superb Mark. The second one is an absolute pearler- composition, timing, that lovely glint of light on the wings just above the thorax and exposure (whilst slightly overexposed, for my taste, seems to suit the subject). Brilliant images. :)
cheers

Great shots Mark - I can't even see the antenna or battery compartment.

These are remote-controlled, aren't they?

Jokes aside, I can only agree with the rest of your colleagues here - awesome captures. My only concern is that you've gotten so good at these, what's your next challenge? How about a FLY ... in flight!

I am just in awe of these photos. These things wiz around in completely unpredictable ways. To capture one at all is amazing to me. The second one is a stunner.

Thanks for the kind comments folks.

They sure are fast little critters and it really is a matter of luck and reasonable reflexes (more luck though). Oneputt came over today and we were sitting by the dam shooting away when all of a sudden he tells me there is one right in front of the lens. Do you think I could focus quick enough. There it was hovering, no it was posing right there a metre away and I'm into instant panic trying to focus quickly before it flew off. It flew off, I crashed and burned

Good fun trying to get them though.
Cheers

Job well done there Mark... I spent some time a while back trying to train my local dragons to pose... cheeky buggers usually zoom off just as you think you're in with a chance.
