Shoes

It has been a while since I posted. Been flat out work wise and decided it was better to spend any spare time with the family rather than in front of a computer screen :)
Anyway here is a photo of one of the projects we have been working on. We were developing a package for a company and they need photo's of shoes. I had ordered a light tent for this job but it was delayed. So I ended up pulling an old projector screen apart and draping it outside. Would love some C & C from those who do this sort of photography. The only PP has been adjustment of contrast and a little bit on the exposure settings. Taken with the lovely 50mm. 1/500 f2

Mal this is a nicely composed shot that maybe would be helped by deep etching and a reduction in Cyan and Yellow :)

I assume the shoes are black because there seems to be a blue tinge to my eye. But I know nothing about shoes.

Nice and innovative about the light tent.

Just 3 points to note:

1. It's horizontal challenged...seems like you took the pic with the shoes on a slant :)

2. White balance - the shoes are blue

3. If you can, try taking the shoes again but increase the aperture to f2.8 or f4. The front shoe is slightly OOF.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Well spotted! I had the screen balanced on top of a garbage bin :) which was sloping slightly forward.

This one has got me puzzled. The shoes are black. I have done a white balance. As you can see the BG is white! My only thoughts are that the shoes are actually reflecting back the blue of the sky? Anyone know if this is what has happened?

Forget white balance - play with Cyan and Yellow in adjustments-colour balance

Mal - I have played with your image (will remove if your so wish). Reduced blue and increased yellow in colour balance. In selective colour increased black and reduced casting in the white. Some brightness and contrast increase. The resulting image may be too warm now but this is a great image to play with.

Thanks Chris, I like, I like.
I also just had a look at the finished version, (for the client) almost the same as yours :)
I suppose that is why I am not the graphic artist in our company. Thanks for the help.
