I've been doing some shots of the Tasman Bridge lately.
The Tasman Bridge crosses the Derwent River at Hobart.

#1: Friday morning, 6 degrees C

#2: Monday morning, 2 degrees C

The first shot sure makes the cold torture worthwhile. Really nice shot. :D

Beautifully exposed John.
For #1 I'd be tempted to crop it into a pano as the foreground shadowy rocks don't add anything to the image, in fact divert the eyes.
In #2 my alternate suggestion would be to crop the right edge to the first 2 humps in the golden hills near the bridge exit and to crop the bottom of the frame with the cluttered shadow/messy weed area to a point where the sun is all but in thbottom right side third of the picture. I think that adds, IMO, more impact to the whole image. Hope this makes sense John? :)

nice shots.

I agree with the first one and pano crop.

I find the dark rocks lower right do not add anything to this image.

The first is the clear winner in my eyes, and I agree with Marco that a pano crop would give it a bit more impact!

Nicely done!

Thanks for the comments Macka, Nito, Marco, Steve and Craig.

I'll have a go at that cropping you're suggesting in the morning Marco.

Nice images and well done braving the cold. :) It's a pity the bridge is so ugly. But perhaps sometimes there is beauty in ugliness.

Thanks Steve. No it isn't the most beautiful bridge. But therein lies the challenge :)

Following on from Marco's suggestion -
#1 again:

And a slightly different one for #2:

I think these work better than the originals.

Nice work John, I think both have been improved by the different crop, particularly the first one!

Thanks Craig.
The first one took a fair bit of judicious cloning as well to get rid of the last of the rocks.

Thanks Marco. I do need to pay more attention to the best cropping of my shots. Rule of thirds etc.
Thanks again for the suggestions all, I like the shots a whole lot better know.

the first one is simply very good and also crop worked even more well.

the second one having sun little on back and its also partialy visible inside the bridge,,it becomes little distracting.
