Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Looking Good :!: After you've had a chance to review yor pics, let us know what settings worked best. Couldn't get out tonight, no babysitter,but I want to go down to Carss Park on Australia Day and have a go at this fireworks thing :D

Can't wait to see a bigger version... 'm stuck at home tonight (2 little ones in bed).

I love digital, not even midnight and we have an amazing image of the fireworks on the forum :)

That’s fast work Sheepie and a great vantage point. Just finished shooting around 160 shots myself - nice photo too

I think I settled on F5.6-8 for about 8-10 seconds. I know it's been recommended to use a smaller aperture, but I was finding there was too much in the longer exposures, and from the vantage point I had, it all ran into itself. So I settled on a shorter exposure, and am reasonably happy with the results :)

This one is a quick pano I took after the 9pm fireworks before I left...
Yes, I know it's tiny!

Hi Sheepie, Love the shots, good job well done. I went down the street here in Mt Gambier SA and well we didnt have any this year so looks like i have to wait till our annual show again next october to see our 5 minutes worth of fire works again.LOL
Oh well off to the track to try the D70 out on the mororbikes for first time cheers

Wow, nice shots Sheepie, and fast. It's nice to see what the new year will bring since we are still stuck in the past out here!!!!!

What lens and settings did you shoot, maybe I will have a go tonight. Still have a few hours to decide

Hi Andy - the wide shots were with the kit lens, and the closer in shots with the 70-300G, all mounted on my Manfrotto Tripod :)

Maybe by next year I will have a slightly sharper zoom and also get a better spot (I was perched on the edge of a hill, at about a 30 degree angle, just next to a 60 degree slope!).

By the way, am in the process now of posting more shots - no computer PP on these, as they were out of the camera (well, OK, smugmug do PP of sorts when I put them up, but you know what I mean!)....

Nice pics Sheepie, You certainly had an interesting vantage point, look slike Vaulcluse or Point Piper. :) Good thinking.... i like your style.

That first pic you posted is my fave. It's a really nice perspective and well composed. Well done.

More a reference to our discussion on just what PP really is - Smugmug change the size of the file you send in for the various views (small, medium, large, original) - it is this I was referring to. Nothing to be concerned with :)
