A bit of pp

Took this shot during a recent outing and wasn't happy with it.

Felt it could be recovered so after some pp, ended up with this. It was formatted for viewing as part of a slideshow for viewing on a widescreen tv.

I'm happy with the result but suggestions for improvement would be appreciated.

John,

Good work there.

I'd probably cut back on the sharpening; it seems overdone to me. Look at the girl's arms and hat (look at the bright line the deliniates their edges), and in particular, her fingers which look almost like claws.

I think that these artefacts are due to some element of overshapenng, and thus pulling back should help with this aspect of the image.

Cheerz.

Thanks for that, Gary.

Yes, I did hit the sharpening a bit too hard. Trying to lift the detail a bit more.

The whole image is soft, slow shutter speed, fast moving kid, lousy technique.

Will play some more.

Cheers.

Just came across this image and had to stop and say that I love what you've done with the PP... The sharpening does seem a tad strong and in this image I'm not sure if sharpness is what you're really after, it comes across as an ideal image to have that dreamy, romantic, soft focus sort of look...

Excellent recovery job I reckon...

Lovely image, but just too much focus on the hand. The PP treatment has been lovely overall, but hasn't done the hand any favours!

Thanks for all your comments. Much appreciated.

I've had another crack at it. Reshaped the finger and used minimal sharpening this time which I feel has improved it.

Huge improvement. Really like the dreamy treatment.
