A few shots in St Kilda cemetary. Thought it would make for some interesting shots and its something I hadn't done before.

You are fast becoming as one with that WA lens Barrie  Some interesting and graphically appealing perspectives and compositions here Barrie. #1 and #4 are my pick. I'd also be tempted to crop that last bit of angular stone base on the cross in the last and just have the cross itself and I am left wondering how much more impact and drama there would have been with a darker sky, perhaps a little burn :)
cheers
marco

Great stuff as always. You and your wide-angle lust inducing threads

#1 is the weakest for me, the subject is strong but the background and angle aren't as dramatic or effective as your others.

#2 the composition just doesn't quite work, perhaps because of the chopped off rail in the bottom RHS? Subject and exposure are great.

#3 is my favourite, great dramatic angle, fantastic dynamic range and detail in clouds and shadows, great colour - definitely one of my favourites for the week.

#4 Very strong image. 'Nuff said :)

Barrie - I have done a bit of the old cemetary photography and it is a fascinating escape from the norm. Of the 4 pics you have presented I like very much #2. To me this shows the sombre side of a cemetary and is indicative of what it is all about - death

1 & 4 are just great in my book No 1 is the killer shot! 2 & 3 are just ordinary shots

That's what I love about sharing your work on a forum like this - the enormous variety of (often contradictory) advice :D.

I should say that when I saw #1 as the weakest, it's only the weakest of a great bunch - not a poor photo at all.

Interesting images... Great location from some ambient shots...

#1, Just needs some dramatic clouds and sky textures.
#2, Like this, maybe the collapsed grave in the foreground needs ot be more completely included? Might be a good oen to try in B&W?
#3, Great angle, the blown sky detail grabs me but I'm probably just being picky, picky, picky...
#4, The pick of the bunch for me, the over-powering cross with great texture and light with the moody, angry sky in the background... Great mood and feel in this...

Barrie

Wow. #3 and #4 are both exceptionally powerful images. They have wonderful composition and make fantastic use of light.

Great work Barrie!

For me I was instantly drawn to #1 and #4, but on closer inspection #3 is a pearler as well! You've definitely mastered the Sigma and it gives me hope I can nail some shots with it too.

My preference is #1 and #4. 2 and 3 don't do it for me.

Love the detail and composition of the first one.

The last photo is tops! It's actually very similar to Mic's post with a cross a while back.

ISO400 - it was getting a little dark - shot at 240mm @ f5.6

Its MUCH sharper than the Nikon G or the Tamron

Cheers :)

The third and fourth images are, as Stubbsy said, very powerful images. Lovely use of composition and well exposed too.
