Got a 2x tele off Mark today/yesterday for which i was going to use on my 70-200 most of the time when I want to attempt bird photos... least then i'll have a bit of room to play till I get my hands on a 80-400 or something.
Anyways, initial thoughts... bloody brilliant... the 2x is damn sharp on the 70-200.. and sometimes feels like its got more zoom then when I used Oneputt's 80-400... focusing was still ace... and my aperature only went down to 5.6 from the 2.8... which is still great... tones are still smooth.. and the DOF gives everything out of subject a nice smooth feel.. Im really happy with it...
Thanks Mark!!!!
Here's a few pics..
So tomorrow, ill be setting my alarm for 5am and heading down the back to my local pond and setting myself up for an hour or so of birding hopefully...
Sorry the picts arent bright, sun is/was on the verge of setting.. but im still happy
Tim

Tim,
With all these going, I think you won't save up enough to get your D200 on time.
New toy, new challenge! Good work.

Tim I have the 1.7 on my 70-200 and find it tends to stay on a lot (eg for the Offshore Powerboats at the weekend I used it exckusively). You'll have fun with your new Super Zoom

I absolutely love the two middle shots. The combination of flower, bird and foliage compositions are gorgeous.

Tim,
That shot of the moon is an absolute ripper! Looks a bit like an over-ripe orange, too (or maybe that's just me (-: )
Cheers
