Hi All, Well this is what i brought my camera for to help me out at what i love to do in my past time at the track, i also got the 70-300 G lens.
Wasn't sure how i would go with this lens doing sports shots but well you decide, i took near 300 shots today 99% keepers with very little PP just USM a bit.
Here is a few shots.

They are very nice pics, if you have the 80-400VR in your hand you will get more graet captures.

That last image is as sharp as a tack!!!!!!

Thanks All, will add a few more later, but this is what i have been waiting for and well so far so good, i am happy with the way they turned out so yeh 80-400 vr should serv well i think.

Great shots BBJ.........................nice to see another sports shooter on here! Your 70-300 does the job well, I have the Sigma 70-300APO and it too is a winner when the light is right. As much as I love the Sigma I'd kill for an 80-400VR!!

Hi WW and Chris, yes well i think it worked well, as it was very overcast this morning so wasn't sure what to expect but anyhow i an snap happy or should i say shutter button happy i ended up taking 396 pics as i came home at lunchtime and dumped the first 1gig on to the computer then went back to the track. LOL

I was near even thinking about the sigma 70-200 f/2.8 as well but well the price seems right compared to the nikon, but yeh not sure if birdy had the 80-400 vr would be ineteresting to see size differance between them.

Well i had a good day, oh and i always shoot in RAW mode nowdays.

Great photos. One of the reasons I'm looking at a DSLR is for shots just like these.

Take an afternoon off and take myself down to Eastern Creek and take some shots of the guys flying around during a track day. That is, when I'm not out there mixing it up with the back markers

WoW. From some of the articles I have read that punish that lens you really have to wonder after seing those images. In the right hands, with the right light, powered by the almighty D70 magic can happen...

Hi Ya, yes was good to be back at the track as they have done a few alterations, will be interesting when we have a full on race meet as the start line has shifted and first corner is a hairpin so will make ita top corner for first couple of laps.

Maybe now you could try to sell a few to the guys wheeling around the track to help contribute to your 80-400VR

Hi Steve, well mate i might be lucky to sell some i hadn't even got home from the track and had an email already to if when i was going to have them on my website, but i will watermark them anyhow.
80-400vr nice and more memory.LOL lots more.

These are great. Goes to show what the lens is capable of in good hands...

Out of curiosity, what sort of focussing setting did you use? Continuous or did you manually focus on a spot on the track etc?

Continuous Mudder, yeh thought i would try it and seemed to be ok so yeh worked well.
Worked out well.

Great shots BBJ. Shows what can be done when a budget priced lens is put in the right hands. As others have said, these hit some of the reviews for six!!
