I went to the pub today with a few friends and they were having a very philosophical discussion and it was quite a good atmosphere to be in so I decide I'd try and capture the moment.

Nothing about this image says wow what a cool image to me, but I am my worst critic I was wondering if this image has any merit at all or is just a plain old image turned B/W.

Please be 100% honest. PS. lighting was terrible.

I think you've got a good image there. And the conversion to B&W is excellent.

This and the fireman one have a similar vibe to me and it's something you need to stay with, work on and refine. A fantastic image. If I was to be picky it's just a tad too dark in the bottom right corner.

Woo eee! Fantastic image. It has a retro, old school feel to it with those long haircuts and wood panelling. I really like this.

I like it Michael and the second version is just that little bit closer to perfection, and I agree with Jonas it does have a retro feel to it. This and the fireman shot have been recent standouts, please keep producing and sharing excellent images.

Michael - I prefer the orginal. The minimalist definition on the right hand side leads the eye to the main subject matter beautifully. If anything, the right hand side could be a tad darker. There is just enough image of the man, who is looking towards the girl, which is what the objective is - lead in.

I like it a lot Looks like an old school poster for teenage drinking or youth suicide or such.... Your friends' hair makes it look like the pic is from the 1970s

They're actually both guys

thanks for the comments! also simmo (the guy on the left) is really into 70's metal so pretty much he's stuck in that era and dresses like that all the time, doug to the right is studying literature and loves metal also hence the long hair.
