Hi All as siad in previous post got bored so went to have a look at the nags as i get withdrawels if i dont touch camera for a few days so anyhow off i went with the D2x with the OLD Nikon 300m F2.8 attached.




What do you think, hope the colours not too over done.

No Birdy, these shots are me getting bored at home and looking for something to do or take pics of so i new races was on so thought well something different.

Not as fast as the bikes and well be back to dirt track over the border Sunday if the weather is not too bad.

Horse power is still horse power...this is just a tad less than the usual brutes you photograph

Nice and crisp images and the colours are great - not overdone at all.

Thanks Piro, Birdy PC running sweet as put new video card in as well pci express and yeh all is good. Better than looking at lap top all the time and bigger keyboard.

nice shots and I like the colours, not overdone at all.

#3 suffers a bit from having the tractor.

The first one would be my favourite, it has the "empty" horse. You may want to either clone out the bottom rail or just crop it out of the bottom.

you said you were using the 300mm, what aperture and shutter were you using?

they are all nice and sharp. Did you try some panning on the horses as you do so well on the motorbikes?

Andre, 1/640 at F4.5 there abouts and well as it is prime lens it was hard to try and pan too much as they got closer because being 300m, did not take any other lens for this drive so no zoom.

nice perspective on that last one.

I was reading an article in Image mag, the author did a lot of horse racing photos. He did say that you don't have to be at the finish line to get the good shots.

Suzanne, at some stage of our lives we all have had that same thought. I know when i was younger there wasn't a lot of photo's taken but remember mum out with the old super 8 film camera but yeh thats the way it goes. Was going to go for another look today but had some showers and got a bit cold so didn't bother but it was different.
