Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Good use of light. I like the shadows that go around the cup. 1 Neg, I think the DOF is too shallow, making only the cup handle in focus.

Thanks for your comment admajic. :)

I found your comment about the DOF interesting. I took this photo with my 50mm lens and at f/16, which is the limit for this lens. Oh well. :)

Yep. It's a cup.

Doesn't appeal to me much though.

Hi Doug,

in regards to DOF, more to do as to how close you were to the cup, see:
http://www.dofmaster.com/doftable.html

You will see that a 50mm at f/16 on a D70s at a focus distance of 50cm, the DOF in about 5cm, so pretty shallow, gets more shallow as you get closer.

As for your cup, it still comes out nice and clean,

cheers,

André

Thanks Radar. :) I was close because I wanted to fill the frame, and as you know the 50mm has a fixed focal length. For more DOF, I should have used a different lens. I quite like the DOF in this image, but I am interested in differing opinions, and I certainly take them on board.
