Portraits of a Feathered Warrior

Captured these with the 70-200 at 300 to 400mm using the Sigma 2x teleconvertor...

Gotta love butcher birds, I had four of them watching my every move.. nearly tame, they had no fear of sitting 2ft from me and taking bits of food from my hand (yes i know, i shouldnt feed them.. I was feeding them grubs I got out of the garden earlier)

Comments welcome

Nice shots. I think a little bit more DOF would help though.

Those nasty hooked beaks do a good job pulling my gouldian finches through the mesh on my aviary.

Superglue

Nah, theres a family of butcher birds that reside in this area... and they often follow whoever is in the garden in hopes of picking up a wandering insect or grub that might be stirred up, i kept what i found and got them setup so they were comfy for a few portraits.. and if they were good after a couple of snaps, i hand fed em... (yes.. they hopped upto me and took food right out of my hand) then i'd take a few more pics

Tim,

Considering the Butcherbird was taken using a 2x convertor, these shots are very sharp indeed.

Love the first 3 in particular.

Cheers
