Did my first trip to Taronga Zoo yesterday with the D50. Both of these were shot through the glass in the viewing area.
If I had my time over again ( and another trip to the Zoo will fix that ) I would try and get the paws in the shot as AVKOMP has already pointed out to me.
What do you think?

I don't normally like zoo shots, but these are great!
Great colours and good sharp focus and yeh very nice too the eye I think it'd be cool if you could crop right up to the face as well.

Some of the best shots I have seen on this forum have been taken not with a D70, D2H, D2Hs or even the D2X but the humble D50 and these two shots enforce my opinion - excellent.

These are great images despite your misgivings. The colours are superb.

Great shots what lens were you using?
I love the first one the best, but both are good.

Thanks everyone who replied. I am very lucky to have a sharp lense to throw on the front of the D50. As it was the first time out with the 300 I am still very much in learning
mode re: framing, general handling and use. But the great thing about digital is that all those "Lost" frames you would normally pay for and throw away are now FREE!!!!

Brilliant clarity and colour. If these are your results in your learning phase then you're going to come up with some absolute crackers when you really know what you're doing!

Wow! Lovely shot, but due to this shoot, I am now planning to visit the zoo
Sir Tristam: Are you planning on going again anytime soon?
Maybe a minimeet?

Thanks very much for the comment Manta.
And yes Trieu I am hoping to go back again soon as a couple of shots I really wanted did not turn out as expected so I'm keen to try them again. If you want to meet up at the Zoo thats no problem.

Purrrrfect shots. On my next visit to Taronga, I must take some Windex and a cloth to get rid of all those stickly little fingers placed on the glass.
Cheers

The images are exquisite Sir Tristram. Gorgeous colour, SHARP and terrific OOF background and bokeh. The first image looks as though its 3D. It is a MUST have lens. Maybe in a year or two DEFINITELY when i retire.
cheers
