Went for a walk through Newtown on Sunday and took some B&W shots. Its part of a Sydney Community College course "Black and White Street photography". Street photography is something I havent explored and always wanted to and saw this a perfect way to get exposure to it.

Any comment / critique (good or bad) is welcome and appreciated especially regarding the b&w technique :D

Cheers

Mike

First pic: I have no idea dude. Doesn't really do anything for me

Second pic has a lot of potential however I think it is let down by the shadows on the road. For my liking they are a little heavy and distract from subject which is notable lighter.

Good subject matter etc and the rest of the pic is pretty decent just those shadows on the road. Perhaps you could lighten them slightly in PP.

Third Pic: Great composition excellent exposure in my mind as well. I tend to hate flare and prefer to underexposure myself so I like the way the windows have retained detail with the sacrific of the floor.

Mike

#3 is a great find on your part and works exceptionally well.

#1 is a little busy, but otherwise OK

#2 - doesn't grab me. a bit too humdrum I guess.

Thanks guys for your honest appraisal. Looks like I havet to hit the streets again :D .

#1. Personally I liked the different shapes and lines and shadows. But perhaps my execution wasn't right.

#2. I loved the old guys suit and hat. Had to get him before he walked off. After my saturday wander, I admire street photogs even more.

#3. Is more what I am used to, that is take time to analyse surroundings, and the light.

Again your feedback was invaluable.

Thanks.

Mike
