Hi everybody! I thought site looks like a good place for conversation, inspiration and maybe commiseration. This is my first post, showing my first day out with my new D50. What do you think?

I hope I did that right!

Looks pretty good tho! Maybe just the harsh daylight washing away the contrasts, but its cool composition...
What gears are you using?

And welcome to the forums!!

Yes, tricky with that bright hair and pink face. The high res original actually shows more detail and contrast than this one compressed for the web (that's a good excuse). D50 with AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6G @ 145mm, ISO 800, RAW capture. I loke the way he seems to be looking into the camera, although I'm actually quite a way away, through glass.

I'd knock the contrast up a touch, glass eats it and then you have sun. Great expression in his face and even a catchlight in his eyes.

EDIT: Something about the baby and the monkey's expression reminds me of Dorothea Lange's Migrant Mother from the Great Depression...

Hi Johnnie,
I like the image but I think a little treatment on the levels and some sharpening would make it ping a little more :)

A gentle nudge though - this image is larger than what is permitted for a image post. The image must be no larger than 200kb (yours is fine in this respect) but it must also be no larger than 800pixels on it's widest side. Could you please re-size as soon as possible? Welcome, and thanks :)
