I like the occasional photo with lots of fx on it, it was a much bigger challenge with film than it is with digital PP, so it is a bit ho hum now. But I enjoy it nevertheless.
This is one of those.

				Hi Greg B,
what is a lot of fx ?
Or for that matter what is fx ?
I like the shot:
http://www.pixspot.com/displayimage.php?album=14&pos=7
The small format seems to give me the impression this is a shot from the past. A child that now may be a grown up. Looking back in time. Perhaps old style snap shot like ?
However the "full size" photo reveals some blown whites.
But there is something for me in the smaller photo. I like it a lot.
Cheers

				Hi Greg
This is a really nice shot. It feels soft and dreamy; it reminds me of the type of images that come out of the Holga camera.
Congratulations on 1000 posts!

				G'day Greg,
Very nice, very dreamy and gives an impression of a distant child-hood memory... I'd be tempted to try even more soft focus or maybe a bit of blur and in black & white...
Very nice... Oh, and congrats on passing the 1k post mark!
Cheers,
Mudder

				Hi Greg,
I agree with the others - I love the feel that is given to the image through the post processing. The blown whites aren't an issue to me as I feel that compliment the old dreamy look in the image.
Did you use a plug in filter like virtual photographer for this or was it a big PP job from scratch?
As others have said, well done on achieving the big 1000. Your contribution to the forum is appreciated.
Cheers,

I REALLY like this image and the effect.
I think Christiand said it best above, this is exactly what I thought when looking at it the first time.

I like it, has a timeless quality to it. I agree with you that sometimes some over the top (even slightly so) PP can really make a photo look fantastic rather than just great.
Maybe when she gets older you could take one in the same spot with a straw hat and ribbon in her hand. I think that would look good and really compliment this photo as a series. (or even her mother, rather than her when older). Sorry just thinking out loud.
Cheers
Brett

Thank you all for your comments. I love that dreamy old world look, that's what I wanted, and that's what you have seen, so I am very pleased.
Jordan, I used a couple of plugs on this, Virtual Photographer and KPT6 Equalizer, and a bit of other tweaking. I really like the effect from the equalizer.

ChristianD,
In case you hadn't realised already -
fx is short hand for
effects...

				Thanks for that clarification leek.
Sorry Christiand, I kinda thought you were asking the question more in the philosophical (and rhetorical) sense than the literal

Hence I didn't answer!
