Just a few photos from the garden today... playing around with my new macro lens :)

Having AF is a complete luxury compared with the film+extension+MF lens setup ive been used to!

Jonathan,
number 1 for me. It has the best composition and interesting detail in focus.

Which lens did you say you got?

Hang on a second - just pulled the image into Preview for the EXIF lens info... it turns out it's in aRGB. The colours are much better when displayed as intended. You may want to convert to standard sRBG before posting the next time, otherwise users of ordinary browsers get short-changed...

Cheers
Steffen.

The first one is a stunner in terms of lighting, composition and detail. Did you spray the flower or was it due to rain/mist?

Jonathon terrific start with new macro. I like #1 and #2.
#1 - Whilst nit picking, IMO (it may work) I would still probably be tempted to try to remove a little of the space in the left hand corner i.e. crop the photo so that the flower centre appears closer to that magic third in the lower left. Might improve visual impact. Excellent shot though :)
Revised Edit- second thoughts Jonathon, whilst my comment here is not without some merit, I believe your original shot stands better as it is :)
#2 - is also fabulous but i'd try to reduce the visual distraction/impact the bud on the right has by using a selective lens/gaussian blur mask with liberal feathering to certainly, if nothing more, reduce the ability of the tip of the bud to visually hijack the eyes. :) Hope this is helpful :)
cheers
marco
