A few from last weekends Sydney shoot.

It was great to meet Craig, Andrew and Keith.

#1 From Trieu's (O1's) secret ledge.


#2 I could say I was photographing the bridge walkers but you'd probably guess I was lying.
VR on my 80-400 doesn't seem to stop flags waving in the breeze, must be a faulty unit


#3 Near a cathedral. St Mary's I think. I liked the perspective of this.


#4 I don't know why that old sign had Craig, Trieu and Keith captivated. Must be a Sydney thing.

#1 is a good capture of a tricky shot. You've managed to balance the incredibly bright light of Luna Park under the bridge with the darker foreground without significantly blowing highlights or losing shadow detail.

In the first shot, is that the ferris wheel spinning in a blurry fashion? Very cool

John, no probs, anytime your in Sydney just let us know.

Last shot is crap.... who are those clowns again?? they are ruining the shots, especially the middle one

You 3 must have got desperate for subject material if this is what you were all lowered too... in shot #3

Peter, yes it is the perennial issue of not having blown highlights and at the same time not loosing the shadow detail. #1 was a medium jpeg, not raw which I usually shoot. Should have checked my camera before starting If it had been raw I might have been able to control shadows and highlights better. If I had done a few bracketed exposures it might have been better as well. But that's hindsight for you If I had a wide angle zoom, if I had a d200 or d2x, if I had ...

Justin, yes that's the ferris wheel blurring. No photoshop trickery there. It was an 8 sec exposure.

Tristram and Trieu, yes I am still wondering what the guys saw in #4. But I guess we'll never know unless they speak up
