I shot these over the weekend
Picture 1. I think I need to get my head around getting a correct depth of field as I think the left part of his plumage is soft. The lighting was really hard as he was in the undergrowth when I shot it.
Picture 2. This is just about a full image with minimal amount of cropping. He was just about too close.
Any suggestions on how these could have been better?

John,
Any suggestions on how these could have been better?
My suggestion is:

and geting the 70-300G

Yeah I was thinking of dumping it and going back to the 70-300G as it clearly is not cutting it quality wise. And I know AVKOMP would give me a quick $500 for it too.

Way too true. I might steal the bio of one of the other users " way too much gear, not enough talent"

Beautiful stuff, my favourite is the 2nd one, I like the alert look in the birds eye.

Thanks Craig. I think that look should be called the " I mean business" look.

Thanks all for the feedback. Yeah I'd love a VR version but I first have to get those 6 numbers and the supplementary right.
