Hi mate.
I think the best way to improve these shots is to shoot at a time when the sun isn't directly overhead. The light is very harsh in these shots. I also find them a little too saturated for my liking.
In regards to composition, the first is okay but the close rocks are out of focus. In a landscape photo it is usually important to have everything in focus. Do a search on hyperfocal distance if you want to know how to correct this.
The composition of the second is more pleasing to me, mainly because the foreground rocks provide more interest.

Or have the CPL or ND filter on the lens to cut it down.
Early morning (dawn) is good time for seascape shooting.

Early morning or late afternoon would have done more justice to your capture and also would have made image adjustments much easier for you. You are onto the right track but need to work in those magic hours of light for shots such as this to standout.
On theother hand if you only have the ability to shot with direct light overhead....the second phots rocks are of interest...maybe get rid of the buildings in the background.
