Waiting

I shot this chap waiting for the tide to come in so he could get the boat to it's mooring. (Inverloch Vic)
It was a grey day as the first image indicates..

The first image is out of R/Shooter at defaults and the second is after I've played in Photoshop.

What would others do to improve on the first image or is what I've done about as good as one could expect.

Curves and saturation are the main tools used..

On looking at the two side by side I'm feeling perhaps I've gone to dark on the darks (the bloke's top)

That second one turened out very well Stephen :D Just goes to show, never give up.

You've certainly improved the contrast on the boot, but I quite like the misty low contrast background in the original. I wonder what a combination (layer mask) would look like?
