A little bit of bokeh for the portrait and a lot for the candle shot

I love the first one Andrew. :)

Nice and simple but kept my attention.

I really like the first one the only negative for me is the white string like object at the bottom but it's only a minor niggle.

Yeah, that is a wire for the priests microphone. An odd place to put it, but i couldn't move it.

Couldn't move it on the day, but with a little PP you can removed it :), I think it would make the shot stronger.

Sorry, I find the first one a strain as I am trying to get the couple in the background into focus. Maybe if they were more blurred more it might work better? The candle and desk is very nicely in focus.

Andrew

I like the execution and concept of #1, but find the image itself a little odd. Have you applied some sort of vignette blur to the image? In the lower left corner there seems to be a quite sudden drop off in sharpness where the cord disapperas out of sight. Not what I'd usually expect to see with the DOF here.

#1 is nice except for the little distracting cable, wire or string that is on the table... :)

To me that looks more like a forground object getting in the shot.

I really like them both Padey. At ISO 800 I guess you're not using flash.
Is that the way you normally work?

I'm doing my nieces wedding in October, so am keen to see different types of shots and to understand how they're done.

Cheers
John

Great shots, both. I especially like the first one.
