OCAU Adelaide Photography meet at Port Adelaide and Botanic Gardens today. Don't usually do shots of people but little inspiration came from the other members. Two photos I'm quite happy with but would love some C&C. Missed the focus on the girl but on the other hand, don't mind the softness.

The symmetry in #2 is nice, the first image doesn't really do much for me...too OOF for me to really grip onto...if that makes sense.

I actually like #1, very dreamy.
To me it conjures up memories of being a child playing in a land of giants and she is definitely playing around a giant.
It also captures innocence

#2 looks great I really like the rusty colours vs the blue of the I-beams.

Just out of curiosity, did you do any PP? I'd like to achieve the same effect.

Heh, yeah - saturation and contrast adjustments to the JPEG. Desaturated the image to almost B&W, increased the contrast then went back to increase the cyan and yellow saturation to bring out the rust and support beams. From there, desaturated the yellow and cyans then using the history brush, painted back in the areas of interest (while keeping the road underneath B&W).

It's an interesting technique I played with on some shots, and given the right conditions I think it can work well.

Love #2.
This shot is RAZOR sharp and the PP is first rate.

If you stare at the first image for a few seconds it seems to jump out at you like a 3D effect.....but then I got motion sickness and had to look away.

First image has a lovely dreamy quality....and a quality of fantasy. Excellent image! The second image suffers from a well known compositional problem....strong diagonal lines leading the eye out of the picture space. It's a well know fact that it's very difficult to get these diagonals working for the image. A nice attempt at framing a difficult subject.

That image #2 looks in focus it's hard to see the LB influence at all.

Definately, image #2 gets the cigar.

One day I wish to be able to do that shot with a LensBaby  , #2 was done with a normal Sigma 10-20
