This is a revisit of this post
http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?t=17240&highlight= but with slightly different perspective (very slight) and heavy cloud cover. There are some extreme contrasts in the image and the it's really really blue...........

I actually think the first is a stronger shot because the line of the fence leads straight into the middle of the photo, rather than off to the right. Both are nice in terms of colour.

I like it. Colours, levels, saturation are all good.
I like that the fence leads to where it does, fencing off a small area, while the rest is the vast area of the ocean.
Great image!

Hi LD,
I do prefer the treatment in your original post. I like the soft subtle pastel tones in the original image. I understand you were trying to give this one that blue tone, maybe to get a cold feeling, but it's just a little too blue for me.
Cheers
John

Thanks John....I wasn't really attempting to create such a "blue" image...it just came out that way....John, I agree in I think it is too blue also..just wanted to get an overall "general" public response

Your opinion is always valued (and agreed

Its got a lot going for it but to my eye it's missing an essential element in the foreground, either hanging over the rail or on the concrete. Needs a splash of something red or yellow. I think a pair of thongs or a towel would have done the trick.

I was hanging over the rail but not in the frame
Agreed...needs another element added...maybe a swimmer

The colours are stunning. This one really appeals to me, even without the missing element. I love the heavy sky contrasted with the white of the waves. Very nice.

Can I ask what this was taken with? (Please don't tell me it was a camera!

)
What lens, shutter speed in particular? Are you using a ND?
Cheers,
Tristan

Hi Tristan...if your question is "which camera" it's a D2x....lens was an 18-35 and yes it has ND filter attached

I'm not sure about the foreground but I definitely love the contrasting colours of the sea, waves and heavy sky... Great work!
