Very nice.
I'd like to see you play with the curves on this however, to see if you can coax a little more detail from the shadows. The bristles are getting lost in there, and if you can do this, I think you'll find you have a very satisfying image as a result.
I further expect, howeve, that when you do this, you might find that you don't quite have the DoF nailed.
But let's wait and see, and see where a curves adjustment takes you first.

Two adjustments to bring back some detail on the bristles then attempted to blend some of the darker areas back into darkness. Slight hue adjustment for a warmer colour. The end of the brush seems to fade into a soft fuzz...

It looks like a moment at rest and there's something about to happen.
It gives me the impression of anticipation.
