hi guys
heres one i shot over easter. although I like the theme - an old man in his element (80yo and still going strong) the rest doesn't do much for me. would love your feedback, criticism and any tips on improving this image in PP etc.
cheers,
Will

G'day Will,
I reckon shots like this, which seem to capture a timeless, melancholy feel work well with B&W... Maybe with some grain and a subtle vignette? Maybe with some curve work on the sky to bring out some mood in the clouds?
I'd also be tempted to clone out the small boat in the background so it doesn't take your eye away from your subject...

Hi Will,
I think that Mudder is spot on here. The colour and the background are somewhat spoiling a good shot. I like the way your subject is staring ahead into space, having a boat and green cyclone fence here does it no favours.
A B&W conversion, some burning in the clouds, creative cloning of a light pole and maybe a slight vignette will really help this shot.

I agree with the others. Rip out the green fence. Maybe have to reshoot with a more interesting background? If you cant try to ad some spice to the sky in levels and have a go with a B & W conversion. I think the Yellow will go well.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I shall give it a go and show you how it comes out. On swotvac at the moment so plenty of time for... erm "study"
