I had to go to the library today (confounded essays), but at least I got a chance to take a few shots while I was at uni.
My first time trying a selective colour image - does it work for you?
And another...
Comments always appreciated.
Cheers,

Macka - whilst I see the artistic nature of the first shot it doesn't do a lot for me. The 2nd one is, in my opinion a much stronger image. This is something that you could very realistically see on a UNSW brochure

Nicely composed!

No worries Geoff, thanks for the reply. I didn't mind the composition of the first but it didn't do a lot for me in plain old colour, hence my experimenting.

Selective colour is difficult to do well.

About 1/2 an hour on that version. I did an earlier one that I didn't like as much. Edit: I was kind of fiddling though! I like playing in photoshop, but it can be dangerous.
It's not all that difficult to do the selection and so on, what I meant was it's difficult to know when to do it, and to not end up with something just completely odd-looking.

I like the composition of #1 but dont feel the colour adds anything. The lines, shadows and shapes are great though.....

I like teh composition of the 2nd photo as well. Love the tones and the contrast of the building pops out against the sky.

I like them both. They're nicely composed
#1 is quite artistic in some ways
#2 is nicely composed and love the contrast

Looks like the selective colour wasn't worth the effort...shall have to try a straight b&w then.
Thanks for the comments people.

Macka - I feel that if you had concentrated on photographing the person sitting on the seat you would have obtained a very nice candid.
