Met up with Mitedo and Oneputt in the forests of Imbil today.

Very dusty and very dark as forests tend to be so I thought what the hell. Bump up the ISO and get the shot or don't get the shot. Easy choice.

Nice shots. PS: Dammit! I didn't know Rally of Qld was on :? I missed out last year and wanted to go this year, only just got back from Germany :?

You guys and your secret meetings ...

Nice shots Mark, hope you managed to keep the dust at bay.
In the first shot is that a flash on a tripod on the other side of the road ?
None of the shots seem to suffer from the bump in ISO, you chose well ;-)

Mark,
All are excellent!
I love them all, you really don't need the 70-200VR don't you?

Thanks Folks. Biggest problem was the dust, played havoc with auto focus so a lot of the time I was using manual. :D

I've had it in my diary for months as there never seems to be a lot of publicity

I had my Rocket with me so the camera got a good going over before changing lenses back in the car .

I think that it was a timer on the tripod. Had a cable that ran back to one of the marshall's cars.

John was very inconsiderate and was using his 70-200 VR himself  Not fair I say  Would love one of those babies.

Mark,

That first shot of the Pirtek car is bloody awesome! Very impressed, that's for sure.

Great action shot, colours are superb and sharp as heck.

Love it

I was there too...... was at Bus Stop 1 in the late morning, and at Cutters Humps near Bus Stop 2 in the afternoon. In between I spent some time at the asphalt stage at the Service area.

Its a moot point now that the rally is over, but where were your shots taken?

Thanks Michael.

R32, Some were taken at the normal spectator's area, but I had a chat with the local constabulary there who were terrific and took us to one of the restricted areas off Casey's Creek Road. Top spot 8)

wow..the first and second shot on the second lot are great...amazing.

Code: Select all
Alpha_7: In the first shot is that a flash on a tripod on the other side of the road ?

i was wondering the same....maybe it is a speed trap? (speed radar?)
