Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Leigh,
What do you want to show?
The red tape? or the shed?
Nothing in your photo, except the blurring of the shed and human in fron of it.

I like it Leigh, I find a strange appeal between the two different settings your providing. Nice to see some strong vivid colours from you too!

Leigh

I like this one. For me I'd have probably cropped some more from the right, but that's a tiny niggle. Conceptually this works really well. I didn't even notice the white horse on the shed when I was there yet is stands out quite clearly in this well crafted shot.

Ah, you see Birdy, that's the wonderful aspect of an opinion.

I've been taught to have an eye for composition and art and while you might not like it, at least two people do.

It's not always about getting everything in focus.

Picture yourself as a 10 year old kid hiding behind these little bits of sheet metal and cloth all connected... your peripheral vision hasn't completely connected so all you see is a blur of people trying to get into and see that shed...

I love the subtle colours - the yellow shed, the red cloth and the bluish corrugated iron.

I find the dirty jutting-out piece of iron a bit jarring though, and because it is much lighter in tone, it keeps drawing my eye out of the frame.

If it were my shot (as if...!), I would think about trying to match the colour of that section to the surrounding iron.

But that sort of intervention may not be ethical in Leigh's eyes! 8)

Every picture tells a story - the title tells one story, but in relation to the composition it is not the powerful element. The colours of the cloth predominates so the title does, in a sense, draw the eye to the yellow shed.

Another example of combining words and vision to tell the story. Does it work for me? I don’t really know, but it did prompt me to table a reply.

That is actually pretty close to what I felt, a kid or outsider who is keeping their distance from the group of people but is intrigued and drawn to it at the same time.

I see a ghost in your photo. There's a nose poking out from behind the red cloth on the blue metal.
