Hi,

I just unpacked my 80-400 ASM OS and heard a screech….. BANG!!!!

I had just mounted the lens, and fired off a few shots in my study. Heard a bang from a car crash outside, and fired away. Left it on AF (was slow hunting a lot), standard lens settings, and camera on aperture priority. Hand held, most are at 400mm. Image stabilizer gave me a dizzy head, as it would move about through the viewfinder. Not pleased with the lens, but my intention for this post is to ask what you think of my capture of a moment?

I liked the reach, although found the lens slow in the sun, so took it back and picked up a 80-200 2.8, much better for portraiture, and motorsport speeds… I like the Ted’s 45 day return policy (provided you get a reasonable price to start with).

Please welcome your comments on the Bokeh of image of the fire truck headlight, the larger circles caused by the Image Stabilizer?

What do you think of the DOF in the picture with the two firefighters discussing who will sweep up?

that pole annoys me a bit in the first.... bokeh is nice in the freightliner pic.

when doing shots of incidents it pays to get a bit closer... changes the feel of the shot completely

look forward to seeing your shots when you get used to the new lens.

The last image of the freightliner truck abstract isn't too bad shoulda gotten a bit closer to the fireys though.

I'm sure they wouldn't mind as long as you're not in thier way.

The DoF is great but agree about getting a little closer to the situation...
