Here is a few more from my trip to the zoo, coments welcome.
Was hard at times with the harsh light. These were shot through glass.
This lil fellow soon as he seen us took off like a light and stood at the back , maybe thinking if i stand here no one will see me.

Cheers

these are great!
love the expression on the gorilla's face in the first, and that shot of the lioness yawning is even better than your other one!
what type of bird is that in the last shot, the colours are awesome!

The bird is definately a parrot, possiably a sun conure??? they're from south america and are kept as avery birds.
BTW its just had a bath, hence the clumped feathers. Great shot
btw, unfortunate about the bit of shadow over the breast of the bird, but in the lighting conditions top effort

John, nice pics, love the way the orange bird turned out given the mesh fencing you had to shoot through.
Here is an example of how hard the macaws are to catch, this one complete with blown highlights and distracting background..

Tony, i know this is a big challenge and like you said not an easy task. To fill those oin BigV and my furry friend fozzie was standing back having a good giggle with grins from ear to ear, anyhow is here another shot.
Ok Tony your shot is better mate.

They're all really good : I like the pose of the second one - very unusual, almost brooding evil genius-like. (The monkey in the third one looks fairly homicidal... not that I'm anthropomorphising or anything).
Very sharp and very well taken : the detail on the tongue of the lionness: very impressive.

i'm loving the zoo pics! I haven't been there for a long long time but I'm feeling sort of motivated after seeing all these great shots.

All great images John. Love the OOF background and the isolation it creates of the monkey portrait

Great sense of movement and nicely timed Mawcaw in flight too
cheers
