Well, fun for me...Bel is often reluctant to let me take her image let alone post it...today I was lucky

Which do u prefer?

I personally like the B&W more, but it may be this phase I'm going through.

IMHO, the way I look (on this) at her photo is not better than last time you taken with the D70.

#1 = Too yellowish
#2 = I'm not in B&W mood, sorry!

The image has been resized so it loses a little bit there...af full res I can certainly see a difference.

The light was in our kitchen (halogen downlights), a little yellow yes, but not too bad I didn't think.

The speed and focusing of the D200 has already sold me, I love it

Geoff, prefer the colour one, very nice. Nice lighting. I think there are too many megapixels in the image, do you have a lower quality camera you can take it with?




Edit: Moderator hat on, you new wankers with your fancy cameras, we have a 800 pixel limit, with a hard 200kb limit (100kb or less suggested) per image on this board. Your colour version is 369kb!! Can you please reduce it?

Fast focussing or speedy of other features on the D200 is not my intention to say in this photo.

Of course when you pay for more $$$, you should get better value, especially when you upgraded it from the D70, if you had and used the D2h or D2x before then your impression will be totally difference.

Same as I drove a Golf 2.0 sport and now test drive the Golf GTi, I know what a big difference & my feeling is.

I was just giving my comment on the photo and its nature.

A camera for taking photos and a car for driving to work daily

o.k i'm lettign go on the d200 converso

think belle looks kind of natural but i think you can reshoot this a few times to get a trully wonderful moment

regarding the tone i think it would work much better if you got rid of the shine on the face by trying different lighting techniques softening hte light etc
in some cases shine is sexy and all but i think in this case belle has such a gentle face treat it gently, with lots of difussed soft lighting try to keep her skintone white, try shooting during overcast conditions

but valiant effort geoff i know how hard it is to get belle to model

Hey Geoff,
nice to see you using your new cam and posting the results.
I prefer the colour version of the two, but indoor lighting never gives great results, always a bit of a colour tinge.
I have seen some great b/w conversions from you recently, this b/w isnt quite as good as your usual stuff, but thats probably from the colour tinge in the original.
keep practicing, I know you will be getting some great results from your new camera very soon, it always takes time to get comfartable with a new camera and get the maximum results from it.

The fume came out from the exhaust system smelt like you are in front of the fish & chips shop, not a diesel like smell..

I prefer the colour version. The B & W just doesn't glow if that makes sense.

However, I find the background a little distracting.

The b/w version keeps the focus tighter on the main subject, though the colour one has that warm glow that I like, too. I can't decide. I guess it depends on the final purpose of the image.
