this guy buzzed us as we were packing up so there isnt any fill flash underneath. but I still kinda like it (mainly because this is the first time I have seen an osprey.

BTW: what lens were you using :?:

I would just like to get within shooting distance of these magnificant birds.

it's still a nice photo steve. one of these took a fish out of the river a couple of hundred mtrs away from where i take my sunrise photos the other day.of course i didn't have my 300mm lens on. :cry:

fozzie: there is a breeding pair in sydney now.
might have to go see em again soon, now I know where they are.

Did you see the other post with it grabbing the fish and people not even taking any notice??

need a bigger lens 600 f4 would help!!

fozzie, the lens was the 80-400vr @ 400, handheld as I had just packed everything away and quickly got the cam out again.

This is a good catch! Stands out really well against the pure blue sky...

That beak looks like it could inflict some nasties...

Yes it would be nice to have a 600mm f/4.

May be I can lose a tooth tonight, and the fairy will bring me a 600mm f/4 or if that is too much a 300VR f/2.8. I have the TC-14EII and TC-17EII plus the crop factor on the D2x :wink:

May be next time I am in Sydney we could link up and capture the breeding pair

andrew, it's the talons on the end of the feet you have to worry about although I wouldnt be that happy about being on the receiving end of either

just ask the fish!!

fozzie: sounds like a plan to me. they certainly dont appear to be going anywhere.

watched them working on the nest today and one bird appeared to be standing on the back of the other bird quite often also
