nice stuff,

I thought that first shot was the best one either of us got all day.

I would probably crop a little closer to emphasize the action.

gotta get me one of them lenses!! :lol:

Bloody great pics, i always like to see these surf shots, must be lucky to get so close to them as here when i am at the beach they are like miles out so not the best to get pics but these a great, lots of colour, action and well framed, well done John i love them.

hi

i think you went a bit too much with the crop. it just does not reflect how high he was jumping off the wave. I also like the spay of the sea behind him.

but is it a great shot

just a few comments on the border also,

I prefer just a very thin bead of white, I feel the white is too thick around the image. but that may well be just me.

the second close crop is about the amount of cropping I had in mind
but
this crop doesnt work from a composition point of view in that you have the main subject in the centre and you cant see the height above that water.

I would have cropped it so that the surfer is in the upper third of the shot on the right, that way you have removed the plain blue water which doesnt add to the shot and you have plenty of spray and can still see the wave in the bottom.

keeps all the drama of the shot but makes it more intimate cos we are closer and can see the guys features better.
