Just one (converted to B&W in lab mode technique) from a portrait shoot today. I must say that it looks a bit different (? darker) after saving and resizing than the original did. Comments welcomed:

Geoff Love it, the captured expression the character it's priceless.My only negative is she blends a little into the background, I'd rather a little more 'pop' in regards to the cute little girl.

Like Craig, I think you have captured the little girls expression brilliantly. I also think whole image needs to be brightened up a bit in Photoshop, especially background.

With a bit of tweaking you have a fantastic shot there.

I think the composition could be a bit better.
I think the hand getting cut off on the left lets it down a bit (move her to the right a bit ?)

Hey Geoff..

The reason it looks different in PS is cos you've converted to greyscale and thus lost the web-reliable colour space sRGB. Easiest way around this (as you are most likely aware anyway!!) is to do your greyscale toying then convert back to sRGB at the end. That way it should look pretty much the same on the net as it does in PS - if anyone wants to see what i'm talking about; download the image (as long as Geoff doesn't mind!!) and open it in PS then examine the two side by side (one in your browser, one in PS).

Liam - I still have lots to learn with photoshop and images - appreciate your knowledge on this.

I have no issues with anyone d/loading this for that purpose.

Geoff, well nice shot hard with a dark subject and i think she is cute. I like the shot with the B&W treatment as it really makes her teeth and eyes stand out, although the chain is a bit bright, but we are in the same boat i am not that creative with photoshop butwell done like us all we are always learning something new, in mycase if i remember it is another story.LOL

very photogenic girl, and a very sharp image.
I would like to see the composition without the arm chopped off, it does look a little un-balanced as it is.

Great shot Geoff. As suggested by the others, a little more work in photoshop to lighten it up and you have a winner!

Looks a bit dark to me too.

And I agree about the composition comments. Maybe include the other chain of the swing??

I always get bogged down by the techinical and forget to comment on the image! I really do like this Geoff, especially the way you intended it to be (when opened in Photoshop) but I found dragging the grey point a nudge to the left in left in levels brings out a little more from the midtones..but as I said - love it anyway. You've got the most important bit nailed and that's her expression and the timing of the shot.

Agree with others RE the arm but understand it's not always possible..I think the parent's would be stoked with this shot anyway and won't notice that kind of detail. Did you get any weird looks taking photo's of a child in the park?!

Great expression. For me it seems her head does blend into the dark background. Also the chain is very sharp and takes my eye away from the subject. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions ppls...Liam, I will pull back the grey point and see how I go.

As far as weird looks, no...not at all. Her mother was in very close vicinity and I had an assistant with me holding a fair bit of photographic equipment so it should have looked exactly how it did - an family portrait at the park and beach.
