Just for fun, I have posted my Avatar. A very simple image which is not perfect but I still like it. The foreground is mushy due to the speed of the vehicle I was sitting in as we sped south out of Moree in the NSW west. The skies are BIG and the ground is FLAT out there. A grab shot for sure, but what do you folk think?
The heron was stalking around the edges of the Noosa River one evening. I am undecided about cropping out the sunset tones at the top??

Whatcha think? :)

Col - first shot doesn't do a lot for me, I'm afraid, but that's not to say it doesn't make a great avatar!

I love the second one but would probably take the top third off the image. For me, there's only enough of the sunset tones to draw the eye away from the real focal point of the shot - the heron (and its relationship to the water and reeds)

Hi Col :)
I'm with Manta on both counts on this.....
The bird shot is a beauty, and by removing the 'light' area on the top left makes for a much stronger and simple image :)
Lovely

I agree with Manta about the crop. Or u could clone it out or burn it. Great shot!

I don't mind the top of the photo, but I would have liked to see the whole of the reflection on the bottom.

Just by rolling down the screen you can see the second photo with the top cropped off and it is indeed a much stronger photo this way. Love this one.

I was wondering who would be the first to pick up on this. The heron was stalking the fish and I was stalking the heron and he was watching me as much as the fish. I grabbed this one and that was the last he wanted to see of me unfortunately. Such is the way with nature shots.

I agree with all about the cropping. It helps a lot.
Thanks folks
