Ok - playing with smokes ... thought adding smoke may improve :? but not sure.... and then started playing with smoke :) seeing I needed smoke for the smoke ;)

I know smoke shots aren't that original, but I've never been able to get them to work before ..... Bernie's post the other day convinced me to try again.

I have been planning to play with smoke too except I don't smoke so some incense burning.

I like the red shot best.

Mmmm, there's another woman in the blue shot, side on, facing left. I really like these smoke shots. Have to have a go one day. How did you do the lighting Rel?

Thanks Doug & Suzanne :)

The smoke was via incense (I'm coughing enough without lighting up a durry), set in front of a dark object (stereo speaker). I had the SB600 with beer cup sitting behind the incense and just above on top of the speaker, and used the onboard flash as well as the commander ..... f9 @1/80th. Colours changed using hue/saturation in PS2 :)

(Thanks Bernie for making me get my finger out of my ass!!!)

Have you tried inverting them to have dark smoke on a white background?

The shape in #2 is beautiful.
It's slightly soft which detracts a bit but it's a great colour and shape Rel.

EDIT: used the word slightly way too many times in one sentence

Straight inversion:

But I really liked the red on black - reminded me of fire ;)

I was planning for this long ago, but since I dont have any incence or smoke at home, I cant find anything much I can make smoke lines with.

Great shots there, #2 does the most for me :D

PS I do not recommend the use of arson as a way to get good photographs

Rel, they look great. I've been going to try this a go for a while.

I got some incense sticks but they don't seem to give off much smoke. Is the some secret to getting a good stream of smoke?
