Love the first three of these. The colours on the Harleys are great, and the jetty is just so.


I'm worried that the harbour is going to empty itself out in #4; #5 does nothing at all for me.

Oh that little shed from watsons bay! I got exactly same one there, so not posting it now...

I like that chain, did you put it there? I cant see any on my way walking

THanks for the comments Gary, #4 I knew that the horizon police would be out. I need to improve my PP skills to fix issues like this. #5 - yeah, I wondered if I should post it or not. I liked the sharpness of it, but looking again, I see why it doesn't do much for you - I'm not sure if it's the background (too much white?!).

It was drilled and secured into the ground - that was my attempt at being a little arty

Love #1, even though personally I hate Harley's but that's another issue.

As for #4, the fact that the horizon isn't straight is why I like it. If you are going for an arty shot, then not following the norm or the standard protocol is the way to go. My only suggestion would be is to go with a square crop and remove the excess blue sky up top. Don't let the spirit level Nazi's get to you, keep being creative

#1 - I have a penchant for blue so this photo I really like
#2 - A nice look, maybe a tad soft. Exposure appears to be primarily for the background - I personally would blow the BG to give some more depth to the young lady
#3 - 3 metres to your right and you would have depth perspective
#4 - OK so I belong to the horizon police but in this case I will comment on the pic overall - due to the low angle the chain is lost as the centre of interest as the background overides it. There is lack of detail in the chain and more in the background.
#5 - This is very nice but a tad more DOF to include the left hand side of the image in focus would have made it more powerful.

#1 is the standout for me and came up fantastically well - all blue & shiny. You'd never know that was a white bike!

Chris - appreciate your feedback. The 2nd one was soft as it was handheld with quite a high ISO (800 I think) at f2.8 it was about 4:20pm and light was fading quickly. I will try blowing the BG a littl emore.

#3 - I liked it front on but next time I go back to Watsons Bay (I'm gonna take Bel) I will try it agian with your suggestion.

#4 Interesting you think that there's more detail in the background? I don't see that but you've been around a little longer than me so I will take your word for it and try to see it how u are

#5 - Agree with you on this - it's hard not to feel kinda awkward just shooting random ppl out and about, but as Craig said when there's a group of you it doesn't seem so daunting
