Sometimes you just know you have a great image before you get the camera to your eye. These three (and especially the first one) fell into that category. These wonderful sculptural works are at Taronga Zoo. They were a little hard to shoot since I didn't use flash and they were in a quite dark area. All three were shot hand held, using the 70-200 VR 1/60 sec at F8. The D2x ability to handle shots like this really shows too IMHO. The tonal range is superbly captured. Anyways, here are the shots. I hope you like :)

And just in case you were wondering, I've done the first one in B & W too:

Let me guess...

1. The first one is a Nikon user.

2. The second one is a Sony user.

3. Third one is a Canon user.

Thanks Andrew & Chris.

Chris - the B & W was more of a curiosity.

Stubbsy,
I'm sure you can do and have great achievement in colour as #1, but surely you failed in #3 B&W.

Keep doing in colour, you'll be more than happy with all the shots you already got.

Perhaps, it's not your weakness, your CF card is not for B&W photos

I'm not in B&W mood.

I don't think it's fair to say he's failed if you're not in a B&W mood, Birdy.

While the B&W isn't as strong as the colour ones, it's not an entire failure. It just needs a different B&W conversion working for it.

Peter - I prefer the colour ones, very nicely defined images. I just love the magic you are making lately with your D2X :) The pleasure is all ours :)

What CF cards are best for B&W? I' like a high-contrast one...

:P

Cheers
Steffen.

THanks guys.

As I say the B & W was an experiment. I prefer the colour.
