Yes,

I have one and it's very nice.

And this image shows this.

But Wendell, please check your wb; it seems way off. The skin tones on this look way too cool, and the diagnosis of poor wb is confirmed with the appearance of a cyan cast in the model's left eye.

I am seeing only one image, that of the diffuser. No image of a model.

A lovely image Wendell, the eyes are beautiful, Katie described them as being like Opals and she's not wrong they have a lovely quality.

The only niggle I have is I'm not keen on the strong nose shadow but other then that it's great.

Gary white balance is off i do see a cyan cast in her eyes
however i do like the coolness of the skintone so i think i will just desaturate the part of the eyes

Craig, model has a very gentle face, with a chiselled nose and amazing eyes, hard to get that colour but proper use of the flash helps exentuate the tones

Byrt i bought that lumiquest hing for $70 bucks at phot reisol camera house

but on ebay i think they sell for US$30, it's cheap but it's not built very well, you can difusse more by adding some tissue paper inside the dome
one advantage it has over the lightspehere design and i think it looks aesthetically better

The issue for me is that the skin tones aren't simply cool, but off. I'd like to see the colour cast removed, and then look at doing your desaturations.

Putting it another way, the approach I'd be taking is to get the basic image looking right first, and then making changes to make it look creative/arty/whatever.

The concept (for me) is that it's best to have a solid starting point, because without that, it's much more difficult to get repeatable results.

This concept holds true just about everywhere, and in just about everything I do, be it programming, playing music, making images ... whatever.

BAsically, it's like learning a trade, so that at least you what sort of work you're not doing.

I think the soft effect works, it certainly is a nice softish light on her face.

It also fits into what I come to expect to see in fashion adds/magazines etc so in that regard I think you have a decent shot.

but her right eyebrow is a little wock, but thats someone else fault and more of an observation on my part.

Actually you can probably stuff extra diffusing tissues in the LSPJ as well - might give that a go tonight!

I like the coolness too.. for this kind of image, i dont think the skin tones need to be spot on.. because its cool and "fashionable" the eyes are absolutely beautiful too.. nicely done, where did you get the lumniquest from?

This is a stunning image.
If those eyes are natural, you could almost dive in for a swim.
I've never seen a shot quite that good using a simple portable diffuser.
Did you use your trusty AFS 28-70 for this shot?

$70 bucksd for the lumiquest thing from camera house it's nothing fancy

I used the 28-70 f2.8
it's an an intentionally overexposed shot so most of the facial texture is smoothed out

I then darkened shadow tones in post to get nice contrast on the side of the face and eyebrows using levels, then slight use of a cloning tool to take off obvious blemishes although i do like taking pictures of models without makup as it's more real, and in some places i used the cloning tool at 30% to smoth out some of he face it's most evident just above the right eyebrow, looking at it now i should of left it as is, texture on the face is important original image was shot in jpeg so I can't fix the colour cast easily

i think i shot this around 2700Kelvin
