Looking at your photo's reminded me of when I was there around 18mths ago. I like the fact that you have taken pictures of things most tourist would never take the time to photograph. Much better then people standing in front of a church or museum.

Here's one I got with a little point and shoot from my hotel window. It's the Centro area of the city.

Thanks Murray - Thanks for noticing the shots. I like the fish one myself.

The shot from you also brings back memories - the long exposure worked a treat. Looking at it, I can almost smell the traffic fumes.

That part of Santiago that you have photographed was very different from many of the the older parts in the city. Santiago was a bit of surprise to me with the stark differences between the old and the new. They had some really nice restaurants in those parts of Santiago, did you visit any of them?

I didn’t get to spend to much time in Santiago. It was more of a stopover during 8 weeks in South America. We stayed at the Intercontinental while in Santiago and ate at its hotel.
I did spend a week in Chile though. Most of the time was spent exploring down south around Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt. The restaurants there were amazing. Chile was quite beautiful around the lakes and volcanoes. I would love to go back and discover more of Patagonia.

Wow - I never got to get down to the Southern parts of Chile. I like your shots!

my pick is the building shot. Is that the Presidential Palace where the CIA drones shot Allende in '73? On September 11, incidentally...

OT remark: is there a written (or unwritten) rule in this forum against taking over other folks' C&C posts by posting your own images? I know that sometimes people post alternative versions (PP'd differently) of the image up for critique, which I think is ok, as long as the OP doesn't mind. But responding to a request for critique with an image of your own is a bit bold, IMHO. This isn't directed at Murray specifically, he just gave rise to a general observation.

Hi Steffen, I have no problems with it. As this series of images is essentially an observational post about the place (Santiago/Chile) Murray is free to contribute his images (as long as they are relevant). Perhaps one of the mod team might like to comment on the general rule on the board?

Sorry if I over stepped. I did not post my pictures for critique and certainly was not trying to take over the original post. We were just comparing images of Chile. I apologise to Steve and will ask permission before doing so in future.

Steffen I've observed this happen on numerous occasions and well if there is a written rule is written so tiny no one can read it and if it's unwritten it is certainly not talked about enough to be a popular notion.

I think as long as the second post is polite, and the original poster doesn't mind there shouldn't be an issue. I can see the benefit at times of only 1 thread for similarly themed shots (for example Car shows, or shots from minimeets that tie together etc).

Fair enough, all involved seem to agree that there is no problem. If that's the general consensus then that's fine with me.

And Murray, no need for apologies, I'm not calling the shots here, just expressing my humble opinion.
