Rather than freeze to death in Australia, i am spending two months, at tax payers expense, in glorious Hawaii. Thankyou all tax payers on the forum. I appreciate your generosity. (I am doing some work here as well, so don't worry. These were taken on a Sunday)

Panoramas of Waikiki and Honolulu, depending which way i was pointing the camera.

Click for a 1000 pixel wide image.

Technical details - Nikon D2h and Sigma 12-24mm. Handheld.

Hi Steve,

I'm a sucker for panoramas, you know, and I like yours. Second one is a bit dark altough

I would have to agree, thesecond one is a bit dark for me as well. I like the first one the most. I think the way it is framed is wonderful.

Steve,
I told you go there and work harder with the funding from all of us, but you didn't

Nice panos and we all missed you on this side of the world.
Hope you'll come home soon.
Have fun!

Yep, RIMPAC starts with a 'big grey fury' in a couple of days time as all the participating nation's warships leave Pearl Harbour to start the exercise proper. There is some pretty impressive hardware on show here. (Nice to see the Japanese in force too) :)

But to kick off proceedings tonight as it's July 4, a big fireworks spectacular is planned.

To the images, agreed with the second one, it is a bit dark but looks ok on my laptop LCD. :)

Last I heard, you were stationed off East Timor... Suddenly I don't feel so sorry for you... but it's good to see that the Navy has their priorities right...

NIce work there for sure. Keep an eye out for good shots in the military vein as that often issues the challenge to the photographer and is very interesting for the civilian population as well. I look forward to seeing something out of RIMPAC.
