Osprey in Flight....

This is my first post here so I thought I'd start with some Osprey shots as they seem pretty popular on this forum at the moment.
These were taken with the Canon 30D and 400mm f/5.6 lens on my way to work yesterday.

This last one was taken late last year at the same spot. I used the 350D and the same lens as above.

There are more images at http://www.pbase.com/muz1006/osprey

Thanks for looking and if you have any comments or questions I'd be glad to read them.

Oh God, is it that time of the year again! Do I have to feather my nest AGAIN  They seems to be very busy with the old home making duties.

Very nice shots indeed. Well framed and exposed. I will have to find a good spot and sit there for a while to equal them

Thankyou all for the comments. I'll definitely post some more shots in the near future.

Murray , great shots but you know they would have been heaps better if shot with a Nikon.... Actually everything shot with a Nikon is Cleaner, Sharper, Brighter etc etc etc.

Welcome.

Both Nikon and Canon have their good and bad points, but both are capable of producing stunning results in the hands of a capable person. Thankyou all again for your warm welcome to this forum. I’ve posted on other forums where the response of its participants was no way near as inviting. I look forward to hanging around for a while.

Comon Murray, I expected a more vocal defence from you after my good slagging of Canon Equipment. If I knew you wouldn't bite I wouldn't have thrown the bait out.

A friend of mine uses a 20D and a 30D and he has taken some of the best photographs I have ever seen. When I purchased my D50 and compared the 2 I came ever so close to coming over to the dark side, but a simple change away from the blog standard kit lens made me stay in the Nikon camp.

Great shots. Any shots of these Osprey that has AVKOMP turning in his sleep is good for me.

Great shots Murray and welcome to DSLR. I'm starting to wonder if ospreys are the new duck...

I like the way the sun backlights the edge of his wings in the first photo.

I wonder if the osprey is afriad of Wimberly heads...

The third one looks like he's returning after sunset from a hard day collecting branches for his nest. Mrs Osprey must be keeping him busy!

Don't get me wrong, I'm Canon all the way and believe it to be a better product and will defend my equipment if necessary. I erred on the side of diplomacy as this is my first post here and didn’t want to ruffle any feathers too early on. That can wait for a future post.

Thankyou for your comment and you will be always welcome on the dark side. Also I hope AVKOMP didn't have any trouble getting to sleep last night, as the Osprey is still there and he has all weekend to get the shot he's been after. That is if he is up to the challenge.
