Not bad but I think it could have been improved if you showed a little more beach and a little less sky. If the sky had some interesting clouds or colours then it would be different. As it is half the frame is taken up by a featureless blue sky. I'm sure others would disagree with me and say that it is because of this the eye is drawn to the subject of the photo which is the man and his dog. It would also have been nice to see the dogs head to give it a bit more life.

The frame you used works well with this picture and the parallel lines of the shore and horizon work nicely to add interest to the photo.

You shouldn’t be concerned about being a 350D user. I still have mine as a second body and it is a very capable camera.

Personally, I would simply like to see the horizon further away from the centre of frame, either way maybe? Bung in some nice fluffy clouds and bingo!
The dogs head up would have been nice too.
Interesting and eye catching though. Good effort.

The idea and capture are very nice, but just that the doggie is not very cooperative.

It looks like a rock there than a "dog"... no offense tho

Interesting image! It has 2 strong horizontal lines being the water meets sand and water meets sky....and it has a touch of yellow that grabs the eye. The dog is a minor bonus. Whilst there are no rules in photography it is generally not a good idea to place the horizon exactly half way up the image space. This robs the image of visual tension. One of the great puzzles in photography is "where should I put it?" I suggest anywhere but halfway. The main element of the image is the man and it's his yellow coat that gives him some weight in the frame. I would have liked to have seen the dog closer to his master and perhaps the camera a bit closer also. I would have liked him a bit further away from the edge of the frame and to have seen his feet.

Vivisection ends. PS Please don't be discouraged by these comments....just think about them for a moment and see if you can see what I am looking at. Then keep doing your own thing.
