Awesome bird Oscar - did you see many? This shot seems a tad down on contrast..

Thanks Simon.
Saw several of these feasting on road kill. Most were in the middle of the highway. This was the only one that was reluctant to leave when I prepared to take a shot - he was in the scrub at the roadside. This shot was taken just south of the Flinders Ranges.

I thought that would be the case Oscar. Wedgies are very opportunistic and also are occasionally skittled if they're a bit slow taking off after a big feed!

So the tip is we should be hanging around road kill for some good picture opportunities....
Would like to see it cropped in a little. He blends into the background a bit. Magnificent birds.

Yeah - road kill it is. When we travelled north we didn't see any eagles though these seemed to be replaced by the whistling kites.
