A few shots taken at the cemetery at La Perouse. These ones seemed to suit a B & W treatment to me.
Edit: Fixed spelling. Thanks Russell

that second one is a ripper Peter - love your treatment of it
the other two don't pack nearly as much punch as the second, but they make a nice group of pics
Looks like you've been standing by for the site to come back online!

Just to be grave for a second, in order of preference #2, #3 and #1 - you should visit the cemetary more often Peter

He's got one foot in it, his 50th wasn't that long back

Jesus looks like he's about to tuck into a nice hot cupcake in #3.
Love #2. Though, I'd probably crop a bit off the left to match the closeness of the crop on the other side.

I like all 3, the way you capture them is inspiring to say the least. I always marvel at the workmanship on headstones and the message they tell about the deceased.
What is the oldest grave there?

Thank you all for your comments. As I've said elsewhere I think B & W suits this type of image. The hard part is determining what treatment to use.
As to the oldest grave. Not sure, but this is a huge cemetary and has been there for a long while. Sadly I don't know what the name of the cemetary is (I'm guessing someone who lives in Sydney may be able to identify it).

It was Botany Cemetary at La Perouse/Matraville.

Thanks Andrew - Seems there is even older stuff we didn't see. I need a return visit:

Craig - jealous? Places like cemetaries are pretty inspiring photographically. My two recent cemetary shoots (these at Botany and my Newtown ones) were pretty easy since there is so much subject matter.

I've been only once with my camera and Katie wasn't comfortable with me being there so has, at this stage banned me from visiting cemeteries for photos, so far I'm respecting her wishes, and I'm jealous of, the D2x, the time and freedom you have to take photos and definitely the end results, jealous but inspired

The cemetary is in a nice location overlooking Botany bay, but I did notice a few of the tombstones were vandalised.

I've just downlaoded and printed out the map for a return visit. There is Pioneer memorial Park with headstones from 1893 as well as "A distinctive Gothic complex of above ground vaults and crypts with gardens and shrines". I'll be going back there.
Anyone interested in a visit there the Friday of the AW. I might take the day off work and head down early

If you've never been I recommend Waverly Cemetery as well; it is absolutely stunning.
Edit: And not too far from La Perouse either.

Can I place my error on the fact that english is my second language?

Can I ascribe my misspelling to the fact I thought it was spelt that way
Thanks Russell
I'm thinking a cemetery visit after lunch say 1pm on 4/8. Remembering there is an AW dinner that night.

Peter lovely solemn images with a composition and treatment that further accentuate the feeling. peter I like #3 the contrast and subtle side lighting, particularly on the face really enhances this image. You have indeed 'buried' yourself in this theme
cheers

Here was my second choice PP on #1. It gives a different vibe to the image IMHO that isn't as strong as the other, darker, version.

These jokes should be buried once and for all, and I do agree with Chris on the order, nice work in BW, Max
