Batty over fruit bats

Even though they freak me out, I snapped a few shots of the botanical garden's fruit bats during my morning walk in Sydney today.

I like the first one, nice colour and composition. Looks like you've caught him cuddling up for a good day's sleep...

EDIT: btw, shame about that branch at the bottom left. I'm not a big fan of twig cloning, but in this case I reckon the image would improve a lot if you got rid of it.

Cheers
Steffen.

First one's a cracker Willy - you really caught the moment with the yawn and the light on the outstretched wing shows off the structure really well. Not often you see this on bat shots.

Apart from the fact they carry rabies, why do they freak you out?

Thanks Steffen

I will definately consider it if I decide to print it out.

Cheers

Try turning the top image upside down. Very stretch dracula. What a comment for my 500th post!

Thanks Simon. I also got a nice close up of one taking a dump (dont worry I dont plan on posting it :? ). They actually turn themselves around and hang the right way up for a few seconds before inverting themselves. Very odd to watch, but necessary given the rules of gravity etc.

The rubbery leathery wings I think, (in addition to their pestilent reputation)
