I figure there's going to be a lot of threads with competition rejests floating around, so why not put them all under this thread.
Feel free to add yours but be careful not to get disqualified from the comp if you post one here similar to your comp entry.
Here's one of mine, I read somewhere that you can blow some bubbles with a straw, to make the egg white more visible, I think I overdid the bubbles

Andrew that's a lot of spilt yolks there.
I had a little accident also, a bit tidier then yours

Here are a couple of my Sony eggs. the first one I rejected because I thought it would get rejected for not being easily recognisable as an egg. The 2nd shot none of the eggs were dominant.
Solar Eggclipse
Flying Eggs

OK, here's a couple I can safely put up. The first came real close to being chosen, with the title "One poultry scoop?", but I rejected it beacuse it didn't have "egg" in the title.
I don't mind this shot, just not terribly exciting.

I like all of these. Danny like the second as well as the first. Steve I agree on Solar Eclipse. Brad, like the shot, did you reject because there was a similar entry or because you didn't like it? Leigh, I like that shot

Steve, just curious, how did you get the eggs to appear to float above their shadows like that? Did you use cling wrap or somthing?

Since we are getting into the spirit of rejection, here are a couple of mine. I am sure this thread is going to be big and I will probably add more later.

Wow. There are some great shots here that IMHO are better than some in the comp.
Brad - your shot has great impact and is such a strong image with the fragile egg in the jaws of the wrench
Steve- I like both of yours, but think you made the right decision. the second one fascinates me as an image and I'd also like to know how you did this (BTW there's something to clone out bottom left edge of the shot)
Danny - that first one of your is wonderfully simple. It wasn't a requirement for the title to have egg in it.
Brett - as for yours YUCK

Thanks. I know but looking at all the titles in the gallery you could think it was.

Neither. I had to choose between this and another shot. That was the hardest part of the challenge.

Leigh, BirdEgg114 is great. I would have given it a vote.

The eggs are sitting on a piece of hand polished glass which is lifted up from the background paper with 4 wine corks. A snooted 500w halogen light to the rear left throws the shadow.
Not an original idea - I saw some flying cashews on pbase (I think)
I should have cropped slightly tighter at the bottom to remove the reflection of the edge of the glass. .doh.

Some truly eggcellent ideas for sure. I wonder how many eggs sacrificed their lives for this challenge

I was going to enter the competition but kept procrastinating. I think I might have been a bit late with this shot.

Hmmmm Danny, I kind of like the lighting in this one, it crisper, but you lose some of the ominious one that you had in your challenge entry.

Yeah, like you picked up on, I thought this was a nice shot, but it didn't have a story or subtext to it.

This is one of my sharp egg, but didn't like the lighting as much, it may have been a better choice but I was always changing my mind.

I think the one you entered is the better of the 2.

Thanks I hope some people agree. It nearly as tough picking the shots, as taking them I reckon.

Craig I prefer your entry

I agree, the entry was better. Focused on the potential...
and the lighting was much better with the shadow on the egg blending into the shadow chook.

I actually couldn't think of a suitable title for this one.
Can someone comment on my "Plumber's Crack" compared to my 2 entries. Did I reject the right shot?

Brad, I really really liked your plumbers crack image, I was shocked when you rejected it (which is why I asked at the time why?).
Danny like the first.

So you think it's better than the 2nd one I submitted?
I spent ages deciding if I should submit this one.

Brad, to be honest I think your plumbers crack has more impact then you second entry, but I also like the story in the second. I'd image that plumber's crack would of gotten more photos, particularly with the title (had you thought of it).

Do you really think a good title will attract more votes? I'm not really sure about that.
I guess it might help, but obviously wouldn't save a bad shot. I'm still smiling every time I think of the 'Plumbers crack' title.

I don't think it makes the shot better persa, but the more you have people thinking about your shot, if it's good the more they will appreciate it. I think the title can make a subtel difference, but I think that image is more attention grabbing then your Black and white submission so would of scored higher. But that is just me.

I have to say that I think the theme really helped me out on this one, got the creative juices flowing!
One more for the road!

I took several variations of the ones I entered, but there were a few other different attempts, none of which turned out as well.

I definitely agree with that and I would love to see this trend continue. Though that is not to say that I think the themes should be that specific all the time, after all little variety is good too!
