PennywisePat & I went to Pennywise at the Roundhouse on Friday night. These are more for interest's sake than critique, as I know they're pretty crap, but if you have any suggestions for next time, fire away. Taken with the 50 1.8.

I agree. The raw shots have a good feel to them and the ones of the crowd tell the story of the concert. I was going to see Pennywise play at Fox 8 (free tix) on Saturday but my flight was delayed. Spewing. Steve (Nikon D200/D700)

Ah....The Roundhouse...not been there for nearly 30 years. Last thing I saw there was Ralph MacTell ("Streets of London"). Anyway, apart from the mild nostalgia trip on my part, I think #3 is good. Nice interaction with the band and the audience with their arms up in the air.
Thanks for the comments.
Bummer... it was pretty cool. We were so unbelievably deaf afterwards, the Roundhouse being such a small room. It was nice to be up close though. Cheers,

I really like the noise and rawness of these images, it suits the punk ethos of the band.
For me, #2 is a unique angle when often rock pictures are taken from down low, looking up at the singer, tight crop. I like the extra space at the top with the lights shining down. Great stuff. Nikon D70s, Nikkor 18-70, Sigma 70-300DG APO

1 suggestion is that if you are going to be close, please think of your hearing!!
when ever i go to gigs i always stand at the back or wear ear plugs. and if im taking photos and want to be nice and close i use ear plugs. if you like the music, just use 1 ear plug and use it in your right ear ![]() other than that i have no photographic suggestions because those photos are great, i love the natural lighting you caught. were you on the balcony?
Thanks Laurie & Jonas.
That's no fun! ![]()
Why not the left? ![]()
Yes, we were on the balcony. I'm too old for mosh pits. ![]() ![]() Cheers,

I agree that while not totally my style #1 and #2 have a rough edged quality that suits the subject here Macka. I like the last and seems to convey well to me the tensions between perfrmer and audience.
cheers marco
i was wondering the same thing ![]() i used to not wear earplugs when going to gigs, but after going to so many, i can tell that my ears are going to suffer, so now i usually always do, even if people give me crap for wearing them, its funny laughing at them afterwards when they cant hear anything ![]() Nathan

Don't knock these Macka. That #1 shot is GOOD. It has good feel to it. It makes me wonder if you were hanging from the ceiling to get it though.
